Casey Kasem passed away on Sunday morning, Father’s Day, surrounded by family and friends. He was not only one of the best known voices on radio, but also the original voice behind one of my all-time favorite characters: Shaggy Rogers from Scooby Doo. As Shaggy, he made fear fun and funny (although I was always jealous of Shaggy’s super-charged metabolism).
Kasem was the host of American Top 40 and voiced many other characters during his 50 years in front of the microphone. He also appeared on TV and in such films as 1984′s Ghostbusters, which also featured his beautiful wife, Jean Kasem.
My thoughts are with his family, friends and fans.
